The bird
cage veil first became popular in the 1940's as both hollywood
actresses and brides chose to wear it. However women wearing
veils has always been there throughtout history.
The
Birdcage veil was a popular vintage hair accessory and
often was worn as part of a hat.
For today's
modern bride, the bird cage veil offers a modern twist to
the traditional.
Traditional
veils come in various lengths including the blusher,
shoulder, elbow, finger tip, waltz,
chapel and cathedral. The most
popular lengths are shown in bold.
Throughtout
many wedding forums the usual topic of discussion is "to
veil or not to veil?". This has come about due to people
not only being able to marry in a wide range of locations,
but also that couples are getting married more than once.
So the bird cage veil offers a perfect compromise - but
above all else is just so fashionable.
How to wear a Bird Cage Veil
Our bird
cage veils come on a simple comb so that they can be
combined with our headband, combs, flowers and feather fascinators.
This is the best option as it allows you to remove the veil
for the wedding breakfast ( when the veil is traditionally
removed) without loosing all your hair accessories.
Traditionally the bride cage veil
should be worn to the side and we recommed wearing it to
the left hand side. The length of the veil can come over
both eyes, one eye or just skim the eyebrow. This length
can be altered depending on how far back you place the comb
of the veil on your head. The veil can be worn with long
or short hair and can also be held in with bobby pins/kirby
grips for extra security.
